My Mom sent me an IM “Will you make me some cookies” I quickly responded yes. This months Whats Baking challenge was “Baked With Love” I figured I could put a little valentines twist on them. I just added some red sugar with the cinnamon sugar mixture and they had a nice twist.
I did not have any cream of tarter so started googling for a recipe without and didn’t have much luck. Then started googling for something to sub for it. I didn’t find anything but foundĀ a lot of people who just left out the cream of tarter so that’s what I did. I have changed the recipe below to exactly how I made them, minus the red sugar.
These are great, the outside edges have a little crunch but then the middle is the soft yumminess. And they made for a very happy mother.
Mrs. Sigg’s Snicerdoodles (Adapted From: Allrecipes)
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls.
Mix the 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon. Roll balls of dough in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Press with a glass to flatten a bit.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Remove immediately from baking sheets.
