I don’t want to admit how many shamrock shakes I have had since Mc.Donalds started serving them. They have been my biggest pregnancy craving between both pregnancies. When I saw a recipe on pinterest I knew I had to make them right away. These were a little more pepperminty then shamrock, but are a good alternative.
Shamrock Shake (From: Babble)
- 3 cups good quality vanilla ice cream
- 1 3/4 cups 1% milk
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
- Green food coloring if desired
Blend all ingredients in a blender until completely thick and smooth. Pour into glasses and serve!

Yum. Using creme de menthe sundae topping instead of peppermint extract would probably result in something that tastes more like a “real” Shamrock Shake. You can find it by the chocolate sauce and other ice cream toppings.
I love Shamrock Shakes! I am always on the lookout for a sign or commercial saying that they are available again. But, now I don’t have to wait. I can make them at home! Thanks for the recipe!
