Beer Can Chicken

Adam and I LOVE beer can chicken, when we were watching Next Food Network Star a while back we say one of the contestants make beer can chicken, Adam was excited and wanted to try it. So I finally tracked down the recipe and we brought it down and made it at a friends house on the grill. YUM!!! We halved this recipe and still have lots left.

Smoky BBQ Rub: (From: Adam Gertler)

  •  1 cup kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
  • 1 cup smoked paprika
  • 1/2 cup chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary (crushed slightly with spice mill)
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup granulated garlic

Mix all ingredients together.

For the chicken we put 3 garlic gloves in a half of can of beer, and put 3 gloves in the chicken butt alone with some rub and put on the holder and grilled for about and hour and 15 minutes.

I bet that smelled wonderful. How much granulated garlic is a glove worth?

  2. admin says:

We used garlic powder so we used the amount it called for.

I love that you made this recipe – was it as good as the judges thought?

  4. Jessie says:

Oh, I see. You must have used garlic cloves in addition. I didn’t pick up on the typo at first, and they weren’t in the ingredient list. My bad! I will for sure be trying this recipe!

  5. admin says:

Yes I think it was as good as the judges thought it was. I can’t wait to make it again.

  6. admin says:

The recipe is just for the rub so we added the garlic to the chicken, sorry for the mix-up.
